The Aftermath

The Aftermath
Joe BidenAmidst the chaos of 2020, the United States dealt with the 2020 presidential election or more specifically the lack of an answer when it came to the election. People all across the nation, and even in other countries, watched in anticipation as the states counted their ballots. On November 7, four long, tense, days after the election, Joe Biden was announced the 46th president of the United States, with Kamala Harris as the first woman Vice President. As the dust settled on the election, a new challenge arose: the looming conspiracy of voter fraud and miscounted ballots. Many supporters of the Republican party speculate that voter fraud and counterfeit mail-in ballots were interfering with the election process, while others demanded a recount. Some officials have even gone as far as pursuing lawsuits under these pretenses. While one side of the US contemplates further action and restitution, the other let out a sigh of relief at the news. The Democratic party celebrated Biden and Harris’s victory, and began anticipating Biden’s future plans for bettering the state of the nation. Promises of healthcare for all and more affordable schooling have been made by the 46th presidential elect, appealing to the masses, while there are many who fear his plan for a tax increase. There are a great deal of people from both parties who worry that a mass quarantine will be implemented after the exchange of powers takes place, and like many situations, there are opposing opinions such as those who believe that a stricter quarantine will benefit the state of the pandemic. The future of the nation is unpredictable, this year has shown us that much, and the plans being constructed by Biden are being held to high scrutiny.
