2020 Football Cheerleaders
2020 Football CheerleadersWhen you go to the Friday night football games, not only will you see your favorite team on the field, but you will also see the Berne Union Cheerleaders down on the track in front of them. This year the squad consists of five girls cheering during the football season. To get to know them a little bit more personal than just watching them out on the track, they were asked a few simple questions about their life in and outside of cheerleading.

Chloe Kness
Chloe is a senior this year and was also named Captain of the cheerleading squad. She has cheered all 4 years of her high school career and is the only member of the squad who actually attends Berne Union for school this year. She is also a part of the Treble Ensemble choir. When asked what her favorite part about cheer was, she agreed with most of the team that stunting was her favorite, but she also said that she enjoys tumbling and spending time with the other girls on the team that has become a second family to her throughout the years. Her favorite cheer that the squad does is their Hello Cheer. She is the only member of the football squad that will also be cheering for basketball this winter.

Marisa Adams
Marisa is also a senior this year. This is her third year cheering for Berne Union. She is currently attending OUL for Accounting Tech and she is a member of the track team. Marisa stated that her favorite part about cheerleading was the stunting that they did during her sophomore year. Her favorite cheer (ironically) is “Defense become the offense (get that ball)” even though she complains every time the cheer is done. Marisa will not be doing basketball cheer this year because she will be working.

Addie Browning
Addie is the third and final senior on the cheer squad this year. She has also been doing cheer for all 4 years of high school along with Chloe. She currently attends OUL for Biology. Another activity that she is a part of is the Big Brother Big Sister program here at Berne Union. Stunting seems to be the talk of the team when it comes to their favorite part about cheerleading because Addie also stated that this was her favorite. Her favorite cheer that the squad does is “L E T S G O.” She also will not be doing basketball cheer because she will be working.

Alexis Davis
Alexis is a junior this year and goes to Fairfield Career Center for Animal Management. After high school, she plans to go to college to become a veterinarian. This is her third year of cheering for Berne Union. She is also a part of the Big Brother Big Sister program. Similar to the other girls, Alexis also said that her favorite part of cheering was the stunting. Her favorite cheer is “Come on come on let’s score, Rockets 6 more.” When asked what she was most excited about next year, she said that she was interested and excited to see what new students join the squad. Alexis is not cheering for basketball this year.

Ali Smith
Ali is the 5th and final member of the cheer squad. This is her third year of cheerleading since she has been cheering since her freshman year. She attends Fairfield Career Center in the Pre-Nursing program. She is a member of the track team and is also a part of the Big Brother Big Sister program. Ali said that her favorite part of cheerleading has to be the friendships and memories that she has made with her team over the years. She agrees with Chloe that her favorite cheer is their Hello Cheer. She also mentioned that she is slightly concerned that she might not have a senior season next year if they aren’t able to recruit more cheerleaders, but she is excited to hopefully see what her senior season could bring. Ali will not be doing basketball cheer this year.
