According to Pew Research Center, “Members of Gen Z are more racially and ethnically diverse than any previous generation, and they are on track to be the most well-educated generation yet. They are also digital natives who have little or no memory of the world as it existed before smartphones”. Since Gen z members are so diverse and tech savvy there are obviously many different and new trends pretty often. Let's take a look at some of Gen Z’s most popular trends.
First things first is the fashion trends. Many trends from past years are making their way back, whether it is bucket hats, unisex clothing, or tie-dye, people are wearing them. As an 18 year-old-girl who is constantly on social media I would say the biggest fashion icons are Emma Chamberlin, Harry Styles, A$AP Rocky, Zendaya, and Haliey Bieber. These celebrities are posting their looks everywhere. TikTok has inspired many people to expand their fashion: people are dying old clothing to give it a funky upgrade, and males are experimenting with makeup and finger nail polish. Let me tell you, the ladies are loving it.
People of all ages have noticed how loving and supportive this generation is. A very popular thing to do is to shop from black-owned boutiques and other small businesses. Additionally, Gen Z is more than likely going to accept you with open arms no matter what. Whether you are any race or ethnicity or you are part of the LGBTQ+ we will love you if you are fun to be around. Many Gen Z members have participated in the BLM march, Pride, and other protests. We love everyone and we are just here for a good time.
The app TikTok has been a huge influence on music. Most people only know a 15-60 second clip of a song because they hear it on TikTok every five seconds. TikTok inspires people to create a small business, expand their fashion, or follow their dreams. Our generation has made most of their life into a trend.
