Read Across America

Last week in celebration of Read Across America, Berne Union football players had the opportunity to read to some of our elementary classrooms . Read Across America is an annual reading motivation and awareness program that calls for every child in every community to celebrate reading on March 2, the birthday of beloved children’s author Dr. Seuss. In all, the football team was able to read to nine different classrooms. Below are a few images. If you would like to view more, you can visit the BU Football page.

Rock Study

Mrs. Garber’s class has been studying metamorphic, sedimentary, and igneous rocks as well as properties of rocks and the rock cycle.  The children had a great time demonstrating how magma (melted rock) comes up through a volcano as lava to cool and harden as igneous rock.  The children also discovered a chemical reaction that fizzed and had an odor from two different chemicals being mixed.

attention sign

For the past several years, Berne Union has utilized an emergency calling system called OneCallNow to keep parents, students and staff up-to-date on the latest happenings at Berne Union. Primarily, this system is used to inform interested parties of school delays, dismissals, and closings. In addition, the system can be utilized to keep people up-to-date on sports/band scheduling conflicts, transportation and other issues. With that in mind, it is important to understand that we can’t contact you unless we have your number on file.

If you would like to receive these phone calls, please make sure that your child’s school office has the correct phone number for you on file. Without it, we can’t add you to the system. If at any time your number changes, please keep us up to date so we can make sure you get the calls when you need them. Thank you!
